Strike Authorization Vote: April 3, 2023
On Monday, April 3, in an overwhelming show of solidarity, 90.6% of all WEA educators voted to authorize a strike.
For the past 10 months, WEA has been bargaining for better working conditions, smaller class sizes, and a salary commensurate with our professionalism and extensive preparation. While we have had success in protecting our pioneering Dual Language program in our contract, the two sides remain far apart on remaining issues.
If an agreement is not reached before then, Woodburn teachers are tentatively set to go out on strike on Monday, April 24.
For the sake of our fellow educators and fellow staff members, for the sake of our students and families in this unique multicultural community, we ask everyone who cares about public education to stand with us in solidarity!
